Fundraising

Many people who live and work in our community are kind and generous. And we help channel that generosity to local good causes and those in need.

But sometimes we need extra money to help out, which means we need to fundraise.

Every penny we raise is spent on local good causes or to support local people doing good works further afield or, from time to time, to contribute to major disaster relief efforts organised by Lions International.

We’re very pleased and proud that all the administration costs and expenses involved in running the Club are met by the Membership fees paid by each individual Lion, and not a penny is taken from any of the funds raised or donated.

The graph below shows how we are doing in 2024 compared to our best ever fundraising years in 2022 and 2023

This just shows the  continuing generosity of  our  local community.

How we raise funds

  • Funding from Donations

You can give a ‘one off’ donation or set up a monthly standing order through our Just Giving page and help us raise funds by attending our events or sponsoring our activities.

It’s good to know that some local businesses have given generously for years, like Lakes by Yoo, The Lechlade Motor Company, Moore Allen and Innocent - and some local groups donate as well, like The Crafty Boaters, and the Lechlade Cricket Club.

  • Funding from Events

Every year, the Lions organise fundraising activities such as sponsored swims at Bowmoor Lake, sponsored bike rides, quizzes, auctions, and plant sales.

These raise much needed funds but are also good fun and encourage a sense of community and belonging in all who take part.

  • Funding from Service

The Lions volunteers also raise money by giving their time to provide services, such as manning the car parks or serving refreshments at local events, like the Royal Air Tattoo, the annual Ploughing match, the Duck Race - all in return for a donation to our Club, 100% of which goes into our fundraising.
