Our Club

What makes a community a good place to live?

  1. Working together to help out those in need

  2. Raising funds for local good causes

  3. Organising events to make life more enjoyable

We do all these at the Lechlade and District Lions Club – and we try and make it fun!

About Us

  • Being a Lion

As a Lion, you volunteer to join a team which helps out, raises funds and organises events in Lechlade and the surrounding villages.

It’s a very sociable and there are many opportunities to make friends while serving the community. We meet monthly, sometimes more often, to work out what we can and should do: and then we do it! Plus there are Club social events each year for Lions members and their partners.

The commitment of being a Lion can work well around a busy family- work- or social-life.

And you can contribute your time, energy and skills in areas which appeal to you personally.

Being a Lion helps make our community stronger and more caring – and it’s also fun and rewarding.

  • How to Join us

We would love new Lions to join us from right across our community (although you must be over 18 years of age), and from anywhere within Lechlade, Fairford and the surrounding villages we serve (click here for details of our area). More Lechlade and District Lions means we can do more to support all our good causes.

Have a browse through this website and if you are interested in joining us, please contact our Membership officer using the button below.

It also helps of you ‘like’ and ‘share’ our Facebook posts and pass on information about us to friends and family in the area.

Every year, our Club awards ‘Certificates of Appreciation’ to individuals in our area who have made outstanding contributions to the community we live in Click here to learn more about recent recipients, and contact the Club secretary if you want to nominate someone you know.”

Feel free to make a donation by hitting the button below.

  • Friends of Lions

We are lucky to have members of our community who help out when we need more pairs of hands to do what we do.

These are called The Friends of Lechlade Lions.

There is no organisational structure and no need for subscriptions or meetings.

But if occasionally you would like to help out, raise money and have fun as a Friend of Lechlade Lions with your spare hours, please let us know by contacting our Membership officer on email by clicking below.

  • Lions International

We are affiliated to the Lions regional body which links nearly 100 clubs and 1,700 Lions across the central and western counties of England and South Wales. You can read more here

Across the UK, there are about 1,000 Lions clubs and 18,000 Lions. Globally, there are 1.4 million Lions. That’s a huge number of people who commit their time and energy to serving their local communities!
